Accident prediction modelling for expressways: a review

چکیده

Abstract Expressways are the need for fast movement of goods and human being long distances in current scenario every country, but at same time these facilities have highest severity rate among all road categories. Various researchers around world tried to find out effect traffic volume, geometry environmental factors on frequency accident expressway by using different prediction modeling methods during last three decades. The purpose this review paper is appropriate method which can be used predict expressways developing country like India where conditions, vehicular characteristics, driver behaviour very from countries research areas findings inconclusive. Literature suggests that various models so far, correlated random parameter model found most advanced simultaneously account both heterogeneous effects explanatory across segments cross correlations estimates. Findings related variables percentage heavy vehicles, vertical gradient lane width not conclusive. However, safety speed limit, roadway lighting, pavement type fog less studied expressway. allowing two wheelers has been yet, accidents fatigue or drowsiness also examination.
